Penn Manor Junior Comets Association Director
Penn Manor Junior Comets!!! That's what it's all about...the kids!! Now that I've made that clear...a little about myself...My name is Mike Weiler and I have the VERY FORTUNATE opportunity to be the Director of PMJC for the second time in my life. I was part of the PMJC family from 1999 to 2009, as a parent, Coach, Board Member and from 2007 to 2009 as Director. I stepped down from PMJC to pursue other hobbies of mine that I have put off while enjoying my time with the Jr. Comet Family. I was asked by some PMJC families if I would be willing to come and offer some help, and I never realized how much I actually missed it until I worked with some of the current board members and talked with some of the parents. I was informed there was an opening for the organization Director position, and that's when it hit me...I need to go back!! I truly missed the PMJC Family, and everything it stood for!! The friendships I made at PMJC are friendships for life, good people, great kids and awesome memories!! So I submitted my application, and here I am...EXCITED, WILLING and READY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AGAIN!!
My whole family is part of PMJC, my wife of 21 years is a Cheerleading Coach, and my two beautiful daughters not only came up through PMJC from D Squad through A Squad...now they are both Cheerleading Coaches for PMJC. So as you can see...I am a HUGE Cheerleading fan as well as a football fan!!
I am a J.P. McCaskey Graduate, U.S. Navy Submarine (Desert Storm) Veteran and a U.S. Army National Guard Veteran. I played minor league football for the Atlantic Coast Patriots (Offensive Line), I coached Offensive Line for the A.C. Patriots as well as being Co-Owner of the team. I coached PMJC Football from 1999-2006 and 2008, making two trips to the Red Rose League Championship Game back to back as an Offensive Line Coach. I am currently on the Staff at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Bulldogs football team, where we just won our second straight Seaboard Conference Championship in 2011.
The coolest part of being a coach at the PMJC level...is watching young men I got to coach play college football. Three of these young men are playing Division 1 Football for Pitt and Penn State, there are a few playing Division II and Division III, and we even have three of them on our Stevens Football team.
So here we go PMJC...it's time to set the bar!! My goal is to work with our Board Members as well as our parents to make PMJC better than it's ever been!! I am looking forward to an exciting year, and ready to make some new memories to cherish!!
GO COMETS!!!
