Assistant Coach
Name: Mark Oatman
Years with PMJC: First Year
Team Coaching: D Team
Playing Experience: 4 years of football with Manheim Township
Coaching Experience: First Year
Hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my family and playing with the latest high-tech electronic gadgets out there.
Favorite Football Memory: The memory that sticks out in my mind, as I think back to when I played for C team, was when we played in what appeared to be a tsunami. Of course it was not an actual tsunami, but based on the rain fall we had that day, you could see the similarities. No thunder or lighting, just a tremendous amount of nonstop rain. I remember the coaches on both sides telling the parents they could take the players and go home if the over abundance of rain was too much for them. Some left, but luckily each side was left with at least 11 players to finish the game.
This game appeared to go in slow motion. The mud was so thick that everyone’s speed was cut down by half. The referees had pretty much given up on drying the ball before the plays because their towels were soaked, as was everything else. There were no spectacular plays this day; no game winning hail marries or 80 yard running touchdowns. This game was slowed down to the basic fundamentals of the game and which team was better prepared.
I remember when I got home that day - soaked, muddy, and exhausted - I could not wait to return next week to do it again. I was hooked.
